Homemade Burgers

I have loved homemade burgers from the time my Gramma used to make them when I was little. I much, much, MUCH prefer them over anything store bought. Everyone goes about it differently, but I've heard from a few people they can't get theirs to stay together. Mine do, even on the bbq, so I thought I would share my ingredients list.

Step 1:
  • approx 1lb ground beef
  • 1-2 eggs
  • approx 1/4C bread crumbs
  • 1tsp garlic powder
  • 1tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2tsp dried italian seasoning
  • 1/2tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2C shredded cheese
  • 1/4C BBQ sauce (I use Diana's but anything would work)

Step 2:
Form into burger shapes and place on parchment paper, on a cookie sheet or tray.

Step 3:
I like to put them in the fridge at this point for 45 minutes or so, especially if going to cook them on the bbq.  You can also flash freeze them by putting them in the freeze like this for a couple hours than transferring them to freezer bags.

Step 4:
Pan fry or BBQ, we sometimes top with cheese right at the end.

Family Thoughts:

A HUGE family favourite, we love these. I often make them quite small, kids like them better that way.

How do you make your burgers??

  1. It depends on who's making them. Mom likes to make them mostly straight beef with just a little spicing, whereas Dad and I'll put a variety of stuff in, and more of it. I learned to make them from him, but our recipes have diverged a bit now. There's not really a specific set recipe though, just certain things we use when we have them.

  2. We like slider size in my family. I think Worcestershire sauce is the most important ingredient!
