Shanghai Noodles

I love homemade Asian style meals, here's my recipe for Shanghai Noodles.

Recipe - Shanghai Noodles

  • udon noodles
  • 2T hoisin sauce
  • 2T soy sauce
  • 1/2T sesame oil
  • 1/2t white sugar

Step 1
Mix together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil and sugar in a small bowl

Step 2
Boil udon noodles for approx 3-5 minutes, drain (or udon noodles can be pan fried)

Step 3
Mix noodles with sauce and serve

At this point you can serve or add anything you want such as bok choy, bean sprouts, green onions or water chestnuts would all make great additions!

Family Thoughts

We love these noodles and have them often, so easy to change up the taste and ingredients.


  1. What's the measurement of Udon Noodles for this amount of sauce? I can't wait to try this recipe

    1. About 200-400grams of noodles, if I am not adding any extra veggies etc to the noodles that I need covered in sauce as well this should be enough for 400grams of udon noodles (I buy my noodles in 4x200gram packs)
