Homemade meatballs are SO easy to make, they really take very little time and they taste so delicious!

Be sure to check out our recipes for Gyro Meatballs and Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs while you're here.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook time: Approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on meatball size
Yield: Approximately 15-30 meatballs

Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp onion powder (or 1/2 onion, finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup bread crumbs

Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a cookie sheet with tin foil; set aside.
  2. Mix all ingredients together, using a mixer, food processor or your hands.
  3. Form meatballs, any size (try to keep them all approximately the same size to allow proper cooking).
  4. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until internal temperature is 165°F.

Notes:

  • Meatballs can be prepared ahead of time, placed on cookie sheet and stored in the fridge until dinner time!
  • Meatballs freeze well, flash freeze them on a cookie sheet and once partially frozen, add them to a ziplock bag.
  • Meatballs make an excellent school lunch option in a thermos.
  • Consider doubling the recipe and freezing the leftovers for other meals.

Family Thoughts:

Our family LOVES this recipe and it is very versatile. These meatballs can be eaten on their own, put into soup, used for spaghetti and meatballs (if only my guys liked tomato sauce)!

  4. I love that they can be frozen, then you can make a huge batch and have some in reserve. :-)

  5. I always try to keep some homemade meatballs on hand. I have never added ketchup to the mixture so I will have to try that out next time I make them! (Judy Cowan)
