Leftover Halloween Candy - Cookies!

If you have some leftover Halloween candy you want to use up, a great treat to make with them is cookies! Cookies freeze great and you can use any number of chopped treats in them.

Recipe - Halloween Candy Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1/2C shortening
  • 1C sugar
  • 1C brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2T vanilla
  • 3 1/4C flour
  • 1t baking soda
  • 1t salt
  • chopped left over candy (we used m&m's and chocolate chips, the sky is the limit on options - snickers bars, peanut butter m&m's, butterfingers, oreos, peanut butter cups, milk ways are a few ideas!)
Tip: easiest to chop them if you put them in the freezer for a couple hours first

Step 1:
Beat together butter, shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla

Step 2:
Slowly add flour, baking soda and salt; once you get the last cup of flour in there your beatters may not be too happy, you may have to use a wooden spoon (or your hand) to finish incorporating it

Step 3:
Gently fold in the candy by hand

Step 4:
Roll into small balls, place on cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes at 375.

Family Thoughts

Well as you can imagine these were gone in a flash! Make a double match and freeze some for later!
